Is it possible to supress read-only prompt?

Hello everyone,

This may not be a programming question, but would it be possible to
configure client workstations to supress the read-only prompt and open the
document read-only? There is no password, just read-only.

What is the purpose of doing this?

You may as well remove the Word software and just give them the free Word
Viewer.

However, if you don't want the document changed, use the Protection facility
that is available in Word, protecting it for forms.
