Is it possible to use work days not calendar days to start/finish a task?

Hello,

The overall objective that I'm trying to achieve is to use Project t
schedule my team's work. We do allot of BAU Reporting, to which we hav
to stick to a rigid schedule, therefore I would like to be able t
assign a task that (for example) begins work day 1 and takes 5 hours.

Ideally i would like to then copy these taks into the following mont
(on which WD 1 could start on a different weekday).

I have set the Gantt Chart Timescales, so they show work days bu
cannot figure out if it's possible to set tasks using anything othe
than calendar dates.

I'm new to Project and I'm using 2000...any help would be greatl
appreciated!

Thanks
A

I'm wondering if Project is the right tool for you. Project's main role
in life is to help compute a project schedule. First, you have "rigid
schedule" already defined. Where would Project therefore help? What
are you actually trying to do? Reporting? Would it be simpler to use a
database or timesheeting application. Perhaps with the timesheeting
handle future plans into the timesheet as the plan and then simply
adjust when it comes time to report actuals?

I agreem with Rob. However, if you really want to use Project, see if
Project 2000 will allow Recurring Tasks on the insert menu. I think that was
new in P2003, sorry I don't have a P2000 installed just now

If recurring tasks are allowed in P2000, they will be on the insert menu.
