is it safe to allow a program to access my email addresses?

I downloaded an update to Acrobat and pcked up a worm which causes this
message every time I create a new email message:
"A program is trying to access e-mail addresses you have stored in Outlook.
Do you want to allow this? If this is unexpected, it may be a virus and you
should choose 'No' " I choose "No" and am forced to respond to this message
every time.
Any way to get rid of the worm?
