Is it true I should never ftp to my hosted Frontpage webs?

I've been struggling with my ISP to get the Frontpage extensions
enabled on my website. They just won't work. Then, I received a
message that this had already been done, but, if at some point I had
ftp'd to my website rather than published to it, the extensions would
become corrupted. Is this actually true? Since I have more than one
registered domain/website on my ISP's web server, how can I view my
overall directory structure if not by ftp? I can't believe the use of
Frontpage 2002 precludes the use of a decent ftp program. Somebody
enlighten me.

I have used FTP to upload my site before the DNS was pointing to it. I did
FTP all the _vti directories also.No problem. I also support a website that
is under a directory in my main site. However I build it as a seperate web
in FP. I then FTP it to the directory on the server. Again no problems. I
use the include component function to include pages. That is the only FP
functions I am using on that site.

AFAIK

You can FTP pages that do not use FP SEs, you can FTP associated files, eg
word docs, spreadsheets etc, but you cannot FTP pages that rely on FP SEs.

I believe you can still view your web via an FTP client as long as you don't
FTP FP SE enabled pages.

If you do you will corrupt things and your ISP will have to run a script to
restore them.

Some ISPs are better at this than others.
