Is Microsoft Project good for production scheduling

I am researching software to use for production scheduling. I am looking at
Project just for office projects and it appears we could also use it for
scheduling production in the shop. Does anyone have any experience with
this? Thank you

There are many previous discussions about this you can find by going to

groups.google.com and searching for production in the
microsoft.public.project.* newsgroups

General consensus is that there are probably better solutions than project.
You could make it work, but it would be better to start with some real
production scheduling software.
