Is MSFT kidding?

I've been using Office since 1992 and programming Office since 1993, yet I
am at a loss to find things on the drastically re-arranged Office 2007 GUI.

For example, where do I turn off automatic updates?

I just started reading the MSFT Press Office Inside/Out book, perhaps I'll
find some answers therein.

I'd sure hope the book contains a mapping of the 2003 to the 2007 GUI for
each major app,
Office 2007 is sure gonna increase book sales.
Hmmm, perhaps that was the goal of the changes???

If you decide to opt-out of Microsoft Update, go to the Microsoft Update homepage and
choose “Change Settings”, scroll down the page until you see the option to “Stop using
Microsoft Update” and select the “Disable Microsoft Update software….” Checkbox and click
“Apply changes now”

Hi Howard,

Ummm, automatic updating of...?? <g>

http://update.microsoft.com allows settings for both Windows and Office updates that are downloaded and installed. There are
other settings in the apps, for example,
Office Button=>Word Options=>Trust Center
you may want to look at, and quite a few of the older version keystrokes still work (for example Alt, T, O as well as the new
location of Alt, F, I
will both take you to the Word options dialog. When you tap the Alt key (for Alt key related shortcuts) you should see a tooltip
over the ribbon showing

As to mapping of commands you may find these resources helpful

Thanx.

The MSFT link in ludicrous as to the methods required to download the
workbook form of the info.

I really must wonder if MSFT even knows how users really use their products.

Never will allow automatic updates for ANY product.

Thanks Bob, those links were useful to me at least.
Love the Interactive flash and also the "Search Commands".
I use Office 2003 at work all day and at home Office 2007.
So I'm more familiar with Office 2003 than 2007 and this will be very handy.

I should find the files very useful, as I can display them in Office 2003 on
one system, and use Office 2007 on anothe sytem at the same time.

Are there similar files for Vista?
