It should read Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 (11.6554.6568) SP2. I would
suggest going into Add or Remove Programs, locate the listing for OneNote
2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2): ONENOTESP2 and uninstalling, then trying to
install again - this time with your anti-virus software and all other
programs shut down.

Cheers Chris. So SP2 for OneNote should be included withing the general
Office SP2 then? Or is it actually a seperate download, as all the other
Office apps have SP2 mentioned in the About box.

It is a separate download.

I believe life is meant to be lived. But:
if we live without making a difference, it makes no difference that we lived

 Kathy already answered, but as a bit of explanation, OneNote may be
part of the Office family of products, but it is a separate program,
therefore receives a separate update.

I must say that Microsoft's marketing nomenclature and product naming gets
increasingly confusing with each release. Some of the differences between
products are quite subtle.

I'm not surprised that newcomers, and those who don't follow Microsoft
product releases closely, get confused.

And, soon, we go from two primary flavours of desktop Win XP to 5+ flavours
of Vista - not to mention the new Office 2007 bundles.

To clarify further - It is somewhat unified in the Office Update website.
If you have any combination or subset of Office programs installed, OU will
detect and recomend the appropriate downloads for them.

Yeah, I agree john.. I mean, I work with mostly real estate agents, and they
were even so friggin confused whith "Office XP"... vs. "Windows XP"... they
didnt even know what the hell the difference was. And it made things worse
for me as a computer consultant... with all the explaining, and trying to
get a good understanding of problems, etc... It's just so retarted that
Microsoft's marketing team even thinks it's smart to make it similar, I know
they're sitting back reading these posts, and laughing ;-)

Having said that I don't think Microsoft are orphans in this product naming
confusion.

Macromedia have come out with Dreamweaver 1, 2, 3, 4, MX, MX 2004 and now 8.

Adobe contributed Photoshop 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5.5, 6, 7, CS and now CS2.
Alongside that there's Photoshop Elements 1, 2 ,3 and now 4....

I think it's an industry-wide problem.

There's so much onus placed on the end user to do their research ("our
website clearly says it won't work on your computer...") and buy the correct
version for their needs.
