Is Norton to blame?

I recently installed the 2004 version of Norton Internet Security,
and, as during the setup a message appeared saying that some Norton
System Works 2004 files had been eliminated, I also reinstalled Norton
System Works. As a proof of lack of coordination between two coeval
products of the same company, during the SystemWorks reinstall some
messages popped up saying that the install program was vainly looking
for the navapsvc.exe file. How could it possibly find the file, since
it was looking for it in a different directory from the one the Norton
Internet
Security had put it! In the end, the program said it had installed
itself OK, so I let sleeping dogs lie.

And then, related or unrelated to the above, a problem with Outlook XP
cropped up. When I write a message it goes to the Outbox, but it does
not appear listed in italics, as usual, but in normal type, and the
date is not "today" but "none". The bottom line? I can't make Outlook
send the message, and only in some cases I manage to write one that
ends listed in the Outbox in italics and with the "today" date. In
those cases the message is sent. But it's a lottery.

I reinstalled Office XP, to no avail. The problem is still there.

Any ideas?
