Is Project 98 OK to start with?

Is Project 98 good enough to learn on with a fairly simply project?

Will I have any serious conversion problems if I go to the latest
version?

Several years ago, I bought a copy of Project 98, but never got around
to using it. Now I have a project and I would like to try Project out.
It's not a very complicated project, but I will have to coordinate the
work of several people.

It's a software project. I'll need to keep track of tasks for
programmers, research assistants, graphics artists, patent attorneys,
joint ventures, and collaborators.

Does Project 98 integrate with Outlook? That's where I have the
contacts.

Can I share the Project file over a p2p network?

What would I get if I bought the latest version (2003?)?

Thanks

Yes. In 1998 it was good enough. Project Management hasn't changed that much
since then.

Moving forward to new versions is possible. Going backward from proj2002 to
98 may not be a complete conversion.

I forgot. I know that it can get names from exchange...

You can share the file on a network, but only one person can open it at a
time. The executable needs to be installed on the computer running the
program. I'm not entirely certain about the last point. I can't recall
whether this changed in Project 98 or 2000.

Improvements in the GUI, formulas in custom fields, grouping, deadlines,
some useful bug fixes, save as XML, Most of this can be obtained by going
to project 2000 as the scheduling engine hasn't changed much since then.
