Is Project the correct application for us

We have never used Project and can't determine by what we have read online if
it will do what we are looking for.

Our firm will be starting a number of projects for a client. We need to be
able to schedule and track the time that various people (currently 3 or 4)
spend over the course of the project which will run for a year. We would like
to setup a template for the year and apply that template to multiple clients.
We would like each task to be scheduled for a specific amount of time and
need the people doing the tasks to enter in the time they actually spent. We
need to be able to run reports showing time schedule versus actual time
spent. It would be helpful if as people work on tasks they can enter notes
regarding that task so that other people and read and review. As a firm we
use the Outlook calendar and task heavily. We would like the task etc from
Project to appear in various user's Outlook.

Will Project 2003 Pro be able to do this for us? Is there a different
product that anyone could recommend if Project isn't applicable?

Thanks, Mike

Mike:

Project will do all these things for you plus a good bit more, with the
exception of Outlook integration. (There is a method of Outlook integration,
but that requires ProjectServer as well, and that is a tremendously more
expensive solution as it involves several different technologies.)

Project files on a LAN server can be made available to anyone, and the
ability to annotate tasks is just one of the plethora of features the
application contains.

I encourage you to visit the Project Professional website at
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/FX010857951033.aspx to learn more, then
download the trial to see for yourself.

Hope this helps.
