Is Project the right software for my job?

My company will be undergoing a construction renovation. Microsoft Project was recommended as the software of choice to plan and track this project. Does anyone know of a resource where I can view a demonstration of what the software can do and how it works? I would like to see this before we make the purchase and attend training. I understand that it can be quite complicated to use. Any advice would be appreciated.
