Is there a limit of entries per folder in contacts?

I have a folder in contacts that has over 5,000 contacts
in it. It started telling me that my folder is full, and
won't accept new contacts in that particular folder (it
will still allow in other folders). However, it is not
consistant. Yesterday it said it was full, this morning
it accepted new ones, this afternoon it is full again.
Does anyone know if there is some sort of limit on
entries per folder? Any suggestions? Am I using the
wrong database, should I use another one? Which one?

I would appreciate any help.

If this is a .PST file, you shouldn't be getting that message -- your folder
should be able to hold at least 16,000 items, possibly much more. What
version of Outlook are you using?
