Is there a max number of columns that can be inserted in a sheet

In Excel 97 to 2003
Worksheet size 65,536 rows by 256 columns

Last column is IV

In Excel 2007
Worksheet size 1,048,576 rows by 16,384 columns

Last column is XFD

In Help use the search term "specifications"; oddly just "specs" works in
203 but not in 2007.

BTW: please type question in the white space not in subject alone.
best wishes

If there was a way to increase that value then that value, by definition,
would not be the maximum
Sorry it that sounds rude but it is just logic

My 2007 spreadsheet columns only go to IV. At one point I saved it as a 2003
file but have since re saved as a 2007file. How do I get more columns?

After saving as an xl2007 file, EXIT the file

or exit Excel and come back.
