Is there a microsoft template for preparing a will?

Do-it-yourself wills are worth what you paid in legal fees. If you choose to
disregard that warning, try Google. Just remember that it may not be valid
in your jurisdiction.

@KJBH...

Many wills can be simple, especially if you are broke! If you have very few
assets and you would just like to say "I leave my X to my KJBH" and have it
notarized, then go for it.

I believe LegalZoom is pretty good. They have commercials on TV now.

As always, we are not lawyers, so I would always suggest if you have a land,
property, an extensive list of ASSETS then of course, see a lawyer. If you
have a 401K and anything of substantial value, then see a lawyer, but wills
can be easy if you have very little. If you are leaving books, furniture,
etc, then you can probably keep it simple!

If you own anything worthwhile, then see a lawyer. If you are fairly thin on
assets, then of course you can do your own will.

Also try OFFICE MAX OR OFFICE DEPOT. They have many will kits that you
complete and just have notarized!

I believe this is just dependent on your personal assets! If you have a
little, then you probably need very little! If you have more than a little,
then you probably need to seek legal help!

Don't forget, you need more than a Will, if you care what happens when you
get hit by that bus & can't make your own financial & medical decisions --
things like a medical directive, hipaa release for your agent, power of
attorney so someone can pay your bills for you, & so on.

And now we also have to consider our digital lives.
Life gets ever more paper-work-complicated.
