In the above link, when you click open with newsreader when happens is that
the newsgroup opens in Outlook Express {or perhaps another default
newsreader you have set}. If you choose to subscribe, an
msnews.microsoft.com News account is established in Outlook Express and the
selected newsgroup added.

Once you have msnews.microsoft.com established as a News account, open
Outlook Express, select News and msnews.microsoft.com. Once you are there
look at the icon bar. Click on NewsGroups icon and you will get a list of
all Microsoft supported public peer newsgroups. You will find those for
Office in the list starting with microsoft.public.-- {for example:
microsoft.public.office.misc } Microsoft does not break down Office related
newsgroups by version.

Office XP does not have a news reader. In Outlook, when you select Go,
News what happens is that Outlook Express is opened in a newsreader only
mode {without the Outlook Express normal email functions}.

You can also manually setup a msnews.microsoft.com News accent in Outlook
Express. Just open Outlook Express and go to Tools, Accounts, News tab and
follow directions to add the account. Note, when asked for your email
address, you should use a fake address. The address needs to have the form a
real email address using the @ symbol. If you use a real email address you
are inviting SPAM.
