Is there a page limit for Connecting Text boxes in Publisher 2003?

I am helping a friend write an autobiography for family. We did it in Word,
but then imported it into Publisher 2003 because she wanted to add several
pictures. It started out as about 55 pages, but as I add the pictures, it
grows. The problem is it stopped growing at 66 pages. Instead of creating a
new page, the connecting text boxes have stopped. I tried to break the
connection, hoping to break it up, but then I lost all information past the
break.

I can't find if Publisher has any page limits for connecting text boxes.
Does anyone know? (It will probably end up being about 100 pages.)

Thanks,
Julie

Can you manually add a page? Publisher works in groups of four, it might make a
difference if you add 2 additional pages.

There is no limit on text box links that I am aware of, it will be the pictures
that will cause problems. I believe the maximum file size is 2GB (not sure if
this is true for 2003).

Try using a less enhanced view of images. View, pictures...

Might increase the swap file, this article tells you how.

Mary,

Thanks for responding. I added several pages, but that didn't change
anything.

I have 512MB of memory and 712MB of virtual memory (which is allowed to
expand up to 1.5GB.)

I ran a Windows Update and an Office Update.

The file size is only 20MB, so that shouldn't be a problem. All the
pictures are jpg files with a height of 2" for consistency.

When I originally imported the word document, it created about 55 pages of
text. As I added pictures, it moved the text forward and automatically added
additional pages - up to 66 pages. When that 66th page was full, instead of
adding an additional page, (like before) it simply gave me the A... box (text
in autoflow). It doesn't matter if I add a text box manually, it won't flow
into it.

Has anyone else seen this problem? Is it a bug, or a limitation?

Thanks,
Julie

I've tried to duplicate this, I cannot.

Is all your text linked from the beginning? Create a new publication, insert all
the pages before you copy/paste from Word. Use some large number, 100 maybe. You
can always delete the pages you don't use. Create a text box on your first page,
paste.

Your document may have become damaged, more times than not it will be a picture
at fault.
