Is there a setup step to turn on OneNote 'restore/undo' feature?

I have OneNote 2003 w/ SP1 and SP2 installed on my PC but the feature that is
listed to 'restore' or 'undo delete' on pages, sections, etc. doesn't appear
as the MS Online Help indicates it should. Does anyone know is there some
type of setup that needs to be done to turn on this feature?

Do you mean backup/restore of previously changes pages and sections? Or an
Undo feature as found in other applications?

Backup frequency can be set in Tools | Options | Backup, and after sections
have been backed up, they can be accessed from File | Open Backup.

Undo should not require any explicit steps to enable, but might not be
active if there is no recent edit to undo.

Are either of these menu items what you're talking about? Can you clarify
the menu items you are referring to?

If you're not referring to File/Open backup, there is the little used
command View/Deleted Pages Folder. Note that these pages are cleared out
permanently when you quit OneNote. This behavior can be modified in
Tools/options/editing if you want to keep them around longer - bear in mind
they will bloat the size of your Onenote files somewhat as that is where
they are kept.

I'm reffering to the 'recover' instructions that show up when you look up
'recover deleted notes' in MS Office OneNote Online Help.

Basically what happened is a colleague and I accidentally deleted a OneNote
page while we may or may not have still being in a sharing session of one
note (that is a whole different thread I can start). We both tried to do the
steps listed below from the online help on our respective PCs while still
having onenote open and neither the deleted pages or restore options show up;
if u r trying to the same thing for a section or folder there is apparently
also a 'undo delete' option that doesn't show up in our menus either.

1. To the left of the section tabs, click Folder Name, where Folder Name is
the name of the parent folder, and then click Deleted Pages.
2. Click the tab of the section that contains the page you want to recover.
3. Right-click the tab of the page you want to recover, and then click
Restore on the shortcut menu.
The page is restored to its original section.

I tried a separate test to recover a page I created on my laptop after a
'fresh' OneNote session launch and again those options to assist with
'recovering' from anythign less then a backup don't exist. I'm trying to
figure out why those options that are listed in the Online Help as existing
do not appear when we follow the instructions listed.

Any additional guidance/opinion anyone has would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

OK, the good news is we finally got these things to work after re-reading the
comments sent again...the bad thing is we think our original problem was
caused due to the 'sharing' features of OneNote if there is a system causes
'disconnect' but at least now we have validated we can recover if you change
that 'default' setting on delete items upon exit of OneNote...someone should
really change that default b/c sometimes PCs freeze up, etc unexpectedly and
u may permently lose things u didn't intend to based on that default setting.

Thanks to those that responded.

Actually if a PC freezes up then the items don't get deleted because that
delete only happens on normal shutdown -- not on crash.
