is there a template for 2008 w2's and w3's?

I am looking for a blank template really. One that is set up to print right
to the red W-2 and W-3 if all of the information is given. Also of course to
print out copies of the W-2's for employees.

oops sorry...w2 wage and tax statements, w3 transittal of wage and tax

Since substitute forms must comply with the requirements in Pub. 1141 I'd
check with irs.gov before I use a template I found online.

Did you ever find a template?

You can go to the Social Security Administration website and print out
W-2/W-3 from there and/or file electronically to the SSA and print out forms
for employees.

I knocked a quick W2 one up, note that the bottom 2 lines may not line
up as I didn't need them. Also, do not leave extra space for the
labels in the boxes, the top margin takes care of that.

impossible to contact the SSA and their BSO website it borked.....

You may want to review the following before providing a substitute W2:

IIRC if your substitute form isn't in compliance you could encounter fines.

Beth, Gordon was looking for a template to fill in the Forms W-2 and W-3
that are obtained from the IRS, esp. the red copies that have to be sent to
the SSA. He was not trying to create a substitute form.
