Is there a tool to draw simple objects like boxes or circles, other than just
the freehand pen ?

No, there isn't, Pete. As you can see by reading the previous posts on this
subject in this newsgroup, it is often requested. OneNote may be a member
of the Office family, but doesn't yet share certain items.

No, but if you really, really need to draw something and you don't have a
tablet PC, here's what you do:
- Open up Word
- Draw your diagram using AutoShapes
- Cut and Paste your AutoShape diagram from Word over to OneNote

Not pretty, but it works. Same thing applies if you need to put an equation
into OneNote.
