of a row of values, depending upon the value of a single cell.
I have 400 rows of data. I would like to change the row color,
if the value of a cell in each row is for example less than 3.
Is there a way to do this using a formula?
I appreciate any help.

Check out Help on Conditional Formatting.

If you need more help, post back with some specifics like

Is the single cell in each row in the same column?

How much of each row do you want colored?

Entire row or just maybe columns A to M?

Assuming column A is where your single cell in each row is located.

Select A1:O400

In 2003............Format>Conditional Format>Condition1>Formula is:

=$A1<3 exactly as I have typed it. The $ sign is important.

If not column A, adjust to suit.

Format to a color of your choice and OK.

In 2007...........Home Tab>Styles>Conditional Formatting>New Rule

Pick "Use a formula" and enter as above
