Is there a way to do a note template?

I'm trying to use Onenote as a digital lab book, a place to keep a
record of data we have acquired, the settings used for each data file,
and a place to write notes about interesting things we may see in each
file. Is there a way to insert a pre-formated note with places to
write all the required settings that I need to record for each file?

I've started using a new page for the data taken each day, so the flow
of the page is a series of notes each recording settings like the
voltage, current, etc... Probably this is stored as a table and there
are at least two different table stuctures, given that we can do
several types of measurements. I can copy and paste the correct table
structure from somewhere over and over again, but it seems like it
would be far easier to have a saved template for a new note that I
could just insert into the current page.

I know that there are templates for pages but I'm looking for
something on the note level, as using a new page for each measurement
seems like a poor way of organizing stuff.

Thanks,
Anthony

Hi Anthony. I had the same problem. I wanted to make templates of medical
charts for a medical office. Here is how I solved it. First open a new
notebook. Then add the sections you want. Then create pages set up the way
you want . Then save it as a onenote file package in the following folder -
Program Files - Microsoft Office - Templates - 1033 - OneNote - 12 - Notebook
Templates. Then when you openb a new notebook, look down the list of
templates and it should be on that list. Try it and let me know.

I needed to do something similar, with fixed locations on the page for
certain content. I used Excel to create the page laid out as desired, with
borders, preset text, etc. Then I printed it to OneNote. After a few
interations to get spacing, text size, etc., just right I had what I needed.

What I need to know, however, is how to get that page template sent to other
computers. I can copy the notebook that contains the section for these pages
and pre-existing pages go in correctly, but I don't know how to send the
Template to these other computers so that new pages in that section start
with this as the page template. Anyone know?
