Is there a way to make replies to a msg we send somehow tell email recipients that "no response requ

I don't know if I can explain better or not, but I've lately needed to
send reminders to meetings to friends/family. These are meetings of
local groups that they've shown interest in and that I promised I'd
tell them about dates/location of upcoming meetings.

There's only one problem, each time I send an email I invariably get
one or two with a long list of reasons why they can't attend. This
despite the fact that I put "NO RESPONSE REQUIRED" in subject and at
the very end. I think we'd all feel better if I could mimic an
automated message type of email format where they couldn't respond to
me without clicking a mailto link I'll provide. When they hit REPLY,
it would be nice to have something that doesn't allow them to respond
as I think that once they realize it truly _is_ an automated message
(though it isn't), they won't feel compelled to tell me all the
reasons they can't go and they'll just appreciate the info and make
note of it.

I'm not sure such a thing exists, but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask
for any input. My friends and family members seem to appreciate the
notification service so I won't stop doing it, I just want to make
them more comfortable.

I learned recently how to re-direct replies to automatically go to
another email address, i.e., when I'm sending an email from work but
need the responses to go to the office, so thought maybe O2K had
something already that could handle this type of situation.

Cheers. :eek:D

You could try setting the ReplyTo address to some fake address

Setup and additional e-mail address account on your ISP server or Exchange
server and use that for sending your emails.

Then send up a Message Rule that anything replied to on that address, is
automatically sent a message stating No Response or such.

Use that email address just for that.

Most ISP providers allow you a multitude of e-mail addresses.

As some have stated, you could provide a way to dump the messages. However,
consider that many folks do not maintain a contacts list, so the only way
they can contact you is to reply to a message from you. It may be that the
message is important to both you and the sender.

We both know that read is a four-letter word.

Thank you, I can see a workaround like this could work. And thank you to
everyone who responded to this thread. Sorry for the delay in getting back
to the group, I haven't been able to come to the ng in last few days!

The rules idea with some fine-tuning is probably the best bet and a good
enough workaround. I'm going to try it out now.

Thanks!
