is there a way to nudge text to the right by half a space?
There is no such thing in proportional fonts as a fixed "space" width, so a
half space is hard to quantify. However, you can select the character before
the first one you want to nudge, right-click and go to Font > Character
Spacing, and set the spacing to Expanded by 2 pt (or any other value, in 0.1
pt increments).
Alternatively, you can insert a "four-per-em space" character by typing the
hexadecimal number 200a and pressing Alt+X. There are several other
variations of space characters in the Insert > Symbol dialog, using Arial
Unicode or Lucida Sans Unicode font, from Unicode value 2000 to 200d (see
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/InsertSpecChars.htm).
