Is there a way to quickly remove line breaks?

When cutting and pasting from pdf or web docs the text pastes with massive amounts of line breaks left over from the original formatting. I had tried to create an applesscript that would run a loop until it reached the end of a document repeating keystrokes "cursor to beginning of line +1, backspace, space, repeat." I could get it to work, but only for the number of times i repeated the steps in the script. I could never figure out how to get it to loop. Now that scripts are gone is there a way to automate this task?

Why not just use Edit> Paste Special - Unformatted Text in the first place?

And what do you mean "scripts are gone"? VBA is gone [until next version]
but Apple Script is still fully supported.
