Is there a way to rename items in Favorite Folders?

It would be nice to be able to rename items placed in Favorite Folders much
like the way you can rename favorites within Internet Explorer. Anyone know
of a way to accomplish this?

Right click and pick out rename.

BTW you are in the Outlook newsgroup. It might make more sense to post
questions about Internet Explorer in an Internet Explorer newsgroup.

Favorite Folders is a feature found in Outlook 2003 and right click, rename
renames the entry in Favorite Folders as well as the folder in the folder
list.

I am in the right place. The question was how to rename the items in Favorite
Folders in Outlook 2003, similar to the way it is done in IE. Sorry if my
original post was unclear.

No you had it right, I caught my error right after I sent it and I have
tried to delete my message, it should disappear as soon as everything gets
refreshed.

Sorry I don't have any useful answers for you.

Diane,

Your answer is partially correct. After a bit of testing I found the
following to be true;

1 - If you create a Favorite link to a "standard" folder, a right-click show
a ghosted rename.
2 - If you create a Favorite link to a "created" folder, a right-click gives
you access to the rename function and everything functions as you said.

The problem with this is that you truely can not "rename" entries in the
Favorites folders without affecting the original item as that the Favorite
link is directly linked to the original item. This is drastically different
than the way Internet Explorer (IE) works and creates somewhat of a problem.

When creating Favorite links the name is created in the following manner;
"(folder name) in (Outlook pst file)"

Now in most cases this creates an entry that is very long, thus the desire
to rename it to something shorter. The relationship between the Favorite
folder link and the original folder is such that a change in either affects
the other, a drastic difference in the way Favorites work within IE as well
as shortcuts in general.

Any reason as to why the direct link between the Favorites and original
folder rather than a shortcut as is the norm in Windows and IE?

It's how outlook handles shortcuts to their folders... it's not just a
simple shortcut like you find in windows.
