Is there a way to represent intershape connections in a database record?

I understand that a database record can represent some properties of a Visio
shape. Is there a way to represent connections between shapes in a database
record? If so, what property of a shape describes a connection?

You can add "user defined section" to the shapesheet of a shape or a page,
and can put the data. The connection could be done by any program.
