My organization inserts a confidentiality disclaimer (bilingual format) to
all mail sent to external recipients. Something has gone wonky with my mail,
possibly because I was playing with some settings in Outlook 2007. When I
send an email, the confidentialy notice is now being inserted at the
beginning, and a few external folks to whom I’ve sent email have commented
that this is very disconcerting. One person noted that my actual message was
included as an attachment, and the only thing he saw in the body of the
message was the confidentiality notice – very odd behaviour.
I have NO idea what might be done to correct this. I have no control over
the insertion of the confidentialy notice, as it is inserted by the system
after I actually send my email. Because the standard in my organization is
Outlook 2003, but I use Outlook 2007, it's quite likely that my Help Desk
will not be able to help.
I’ve looked at all the settings hoping to find something that looks like the
right thing to tweak, to no avail. Also, I cannot find a way to restore all
Outlook 2007 settings to their defaults, and I suspect that if there IS a way
to do this, my problem will be solved. If anyone who reads this can advise as
to how I might restore all Outlook 2007 settings to their default, I will be
very grateful, as I do think that such a restore will solve the problem.
