Is there a way to save and lock/secure a file or folder?

Can I create a word doc, or spreadsheet, etc, and save it in My Docs, or
anywhere, and do so with a password to lock or secure the document?

You can password protect zipfiles/zipfolders in the operating system.
You can also password protect office files in the Save As dialog box.
