Is there a way to see the order of layered objects in PowerPoint?

I have several objects layered in PowerPoint. I realize you can tab through
them, but is there a way to see which object is the first layer, which is on
the second layer, etc...? It's getting difficult to know how to replace
objects without messing up the order. Thanks.

PPT 2007 has a selection and visibility task pane that facilitates this.

For previous versions, I recommend grabbing the demo version of PPT2HTML.
There's a layer manager thingy there. You don't have to buy PPT2HTML if this
is the only part of that add-in you need -- the demo version will continue

I am a newbie so I may be answering wrong, but on the 29th March I asked a
very similar question and it helped me enormously. "Luc " answered and I
keep all of my tips in a folder, so this may help you if I have understood
your question.

editing group of the Home tab, click on select button and choose selection
pane. You can rename every object on the slide and that name will appear in
the custom animation pane also. You can easily hide/unhide objects so that
they are easily accessible.

Ps. I forgot about the Editing mode. I do not have the notes about this.
Someone on this group will talk you through it. I know how to do it but I am
not yet able to put into words the procedure. I am not experienced enough to
answer questions in detail.
