Is there a way to show 'link lines' only for tasks you specify?

The "Format, Layout" command appears to be either "on" or "off" for all tasks
with predecessor/successor relationships. For reasons I won't go into, a
request came up at my work where someone only wanted to show the link lines
on the Gantt view for key/important/specified tasks (not show all of the
linking lines between "unimportant tasks"). Is there a way to do this?
Obviously you could "fake" the system out by using hard/constraint start/stop
dates (instead of using predecessor/successor relationships) on all of the
tasks where you don't want link lines to show; or, turn-off the link lines
feature in the Layout command and 'draw' lines/arrows using the drawing
toolbar features of Project. Both of these approaches would be, of course,
cumbersome.

There is alwats someone, usually management, in a meeting that wants
something you don't have or can't produce. The answer to your question is no.
To can go to View>Critical & Near Critical. This will show the critical path
of the project as long as you have all task logically tied. You could also
set up filters to narrow down how many task someone has to look at.
Management usually has a problem with comprehension or thought process.
As far as opening the flood gates by "faking it" and drawing lines: If you
start it the flood will come.
Hope this helps and sorry for the brutally honest answers.
