Is there a way to turn off automatic change of font?

I change the font for the whole document to the font that I want, and then here
and there now and then it changes to Times New Roman. Can I turn this "feature"
off?

If you want to change your default font:

Format | Font | select the font you want and then click on default.
You shouldn't have a problem after that.

That does not seem to work. If I have two different fonts on the same page and
neither of these fonts is Times New Roman, a slip of the mouse (no button click)
and it begins typing in Times New Roman.
