Is there a work around to save files in Word 2003?

I am unable to "save" or "Save As" in Word2003 - Office SP1 has been
installed (which is supposed to contain a patch for this problem) and "Fix
and Repair" from Word Help Menu does not fix the problem.
Is there a "work around" or do I have to uninstall and reinstall Ofice 2003
- when called by Outlook Word 2003 will save a file.

It sounds more like you have some horrible third party utility messing up
Word. Do a quick test: start Word in Safe Mode. From Start, Run type in

winword /a

and press Enter. Word will start in its default install mode bypassing any
nasty add-in. Test it again now. If it works now, look for custom macros,
add-ins or other third party intrusions in Word.

If you are running Norton AntiVirus, disable its Office Plug-in.
