Is there an easy way to Track Milage in One Note or Outlook?

I want to be able to track my car milage and One note seems to have a good
format for doing this.

Start by asking yourself: "How would you track mileage on a piece of
paper?"

I do something similar for tracking my cell minutes for my shared plan at
work. I have a page in one of my sections called "Nextel Minutes" and
every month, I clear out the previous month's usage. I have a "table"
(such as it exists in OneNote) with columns for Month, voice minutes, data
minutes, and notes (to remind myself that there should be higher-than-
normal usage in a month where I travel).

Something similar for your case might be Day, mileage, trip purpose,
destination, client, etc.

Keep in mind that OneNote does not have any calculation smarts when it
comes to its table support. Unlike in Excel, you cannot sort table data by
date or summarize total miles travelled, etc.

Erik,

In the next version, will onenote be able to export a section (aka hand
written table) straight into excel?

The full feature set of the next version hasn't been announced yet. I
don't think I've heard that request before, but perhaps the OneNote
development team has.

What he said. If (and I'm saying *if* here) table support is improved in
V2, then I can't imagine you couldn't take a table of data from OneNote and
put it in a table (or spreadsheet or database or etc.) in another program.

Well...it would depend a lot upon how the cells are handled. You could
certainly copy/paste the cells one by one but that would be a pain. Being
able to take that table and paste it cleanly into an Excel spreadsheet
(with correct cell definition) may not be as easy.

Bah. If it's a table it'll copy. ;)
