Is there any way to have a date earlier then 1984 ?

I am trying to use Ms Project as big calendar. I would put historical events

This same question was asked about a year ago by a student wanting to do
a history of the world type of thing for a class project. Although there
are tricks that can be used to make Project effectively work with dates
earlier than 1984, Project is just not the right application for what
you want to do. Project is designed to track logically linked schedules
in the here and now. In terms of a "history of the world" type of
calendar, a more graphics friendly application such as PowerPoint would
probably work much better.

Visio will let you do Gantt charts with starting dates as early as 1900 if

As I recall the first time travel machine was built in 1860 so I guess
Visio wouldn't be able to show that historic achievement, right? (yuck,
yuck, yuck).
