Is this a bug in MSPS?

Scenario: In PWA, a resource enters hours against a task and submits to the
PM for approval. The hours were entered on the wrong day.
Correction A: The resource removes the hours from the wrong day first AND
THEN applies the hours to the correct day. Result: "Work" remains correct
Correction B: The resource first enters the hours on the correct day AND
THEN deletes the hours from the wrong day. Result: "Work" doubles.

WHY???

No, I don't believe this is a bug. Example: I assign a resource to 8 hours
of Work on a task with a 1-day Duration. The resource enters 8 hours of
Actual Work on the wrong day. After realizing his mistake, the resource
enters 8 hours of Actual Work on the correct day before deleting the 8 hours
of Actual Work on the wrong day. In the world of Microsoft Project, Work =
Actual Work + Remaining Work. If a resource enters 8 hours of Actual Work
on TWO different days, then Work now equals 16 hours. If the resource then
deletes the 8 hours of Actual Work on the wrong day, the system now says
that the resource has 8 hours of Remaining Work on that task. To correct
the problem, the resource must set the Remaining Work to 0 hours.

Given the scenario you described, I would recommend that you teach your team
members to delete incorrect Actual Work values first, and then enter them on
the correct day. This will spare you and them a lot of confusion. Hope
this helps.

Thanks Dale - I had already informed them to delete first, then add. I was
just wondering if this was a bug - But as you explained it, the application
is working exactly how it is programmed to work. Sometimes we expect too
much automation I guess :)

Also thanks for the Archive response! I will put that into production when
I go back to San Diego next week. Good thing is , when I configured their
system 7 months ago, I already added the Enterprise Code "Archive" as I
figured we would need it sooner or later.

Go Tigers! (sorry - From Detroit and had to add that).....
