Is this a robot, or what?

Over half the hits on one of my websites for the past couple of weeks have
come from "eZ publish Link Validator". Their hits are skewing the stats and
making my client think things are more wonderful than they really are.
I have Googled eZ publish Link Validator, but I still don't understand what
is is, or why it is accessing my website. Does anyone know how I can stop
them hitting my site so frequently? Thanks for any help you can give.

Quite possibly caused by the Crossmap Chart ranking system you're using.

I don't think Crossmap is doing it. I've had them on the home page for a
couple of years, with nothing like this happening before.

Not a spider, part of a CMS application.

You could always just block the IP address from where it is coming from
(check your logs) and find out who bitches about the site being down.
