I have just started using excel and have made my first real
spreadsheet with 12 seperate sheets.
I have managed to automatically transfer results between sheets but i
want to go up a level.
My idea is to allow the user to input a name in one sheet and for this
data to be automatically recognised in a seperate sheet and
automatically updated.
Example : sheet 1 is the result sheet
sheet 2 contains 15 "heat results" allowing the user
to input points that are automatically added together and displayed
both in sheet 1 and sheet 2

Now the hard part

After the 15 heats the top 8 "scorers" are then put into 2 semi final
heats and this is where i need help

The user will input or select a "name" in sheet 2 and will add his
"score" in the same sheet and i want these scores to be automatically
added to sheet 1

Is this possible?

Please post in only one newsgroup, you also posted in excel.misc
no answer there yet either at the moment.

Might not stick out like a sore thumb if you had spelled separate
correctly, or was it the title that doesn't describe the problem or
the type of data being used. Don't work with that stuff myself,
but if someone (Ron) were to answer one of those questions, and after
spending an hour on it, find someone else (Tom) had answered elsewhere
even before he saw the problem himself, he might not be too happy.
There are a few thousand posts in the Excel newsgroups each day
please be a more respective of other people's time.
