Is this the right program for me?

I need a program that can track numerous Web Site projects as they are
created and maintained over various periods of time. Each project will have a
variety of tasks and phases. I want to be able to track project status, use
of our resources (designers/tecs), and provide cost estimates - amongst other
things. We are currently using XPlanner but I am not finding it to be as
user-friendly as I would like, and there are some reports and features I need
that it is not capable of producing. Advice?

TL-
MS Project can certainly do all of what you are asking. I totally endorse
the tool.

But, it is not a slam dunk. I've seen PMs be very successful with a minimal
amount of effort but their needs are typically less that what I think you
are looking for.

I've also seen year long implementations of complex MS Project Server
environments in global program management settings.

I'm not sure "user friendly" is something I hear often said about Project.
It is very dense in terms of features and functionality.

It is what Microsoft uses to manage their development, so it can be done.

I would download a free trial of MS Project 2007 get a book and take it for
a test drive for a couple weeks and see what you think.
