Is Word 2004 MAC contain Onenote

Hello all,

I am a windows user thinking of making the Mac switch at a later date.
One program I use a lot is Onenote 2003 for Windows and when I look at
the features of Word 2004 for the Mac it seems they have combined the
features of Onenote into Word. Can Word 2004 import Windows Onenote
files, can it do all the stuff that Onenote can?

My other option is to get virtual PC with the computer and run it with
that, I would consider getting virtual PC anyway because I use
Publisher 2000.

Still, I would like to know if Word 2004 for the mac has Onenote within
it. I wonder if they will make a seperate version of Onenote for the
mac at a later date.

Thank you for your time.

Regards,

Adam.

Hi Adam,
to give you a straight answer, no, Word 2004 cannot open OneNote documents
(but neither can WinWord 2003, unless I'm mistaken). You're talking about
the new notebook layout view, which, while it is really nice and quite
useful, is certainly no OneNote equivalent. Just think of it as an outliner
with some advanced note-taking features. You can re-arrange notes, as you
would with an outliner, you can assign different note flags to them, you can
create Entourage tasks (Entourage is the PIM and emailing software that is
part of the Office:mac suite), and you can even record audio notes. While
this list does not cover all the features the notebook layout view has, it
should give you a rough idea of what to expect. Depending on how intensive
and sophisticated your use of OneNote is, this new view in Word might be
enough for you; otherwise, Virtual PC is for now the only possibility to
open OneNote files on a Mac. That being said, I would really love to see a
Mac version of OneNote; I've had a look at the OneNote website, and it looks
gorgeous. But I guess for the time being, Word will have to do.

Thank you Michel, that was helpful. When the time comes I will use
the 'virtual PC' program , although by then there hopefully might be a
mac native version. I use Onenote everyday and cannot part with it.
Regards, Adam.
