Is Word 2007 better at managing file size w/ embedded pictures?

I am designing a new Word 2007 template to use for my technical books, which
include a lot of graphics. Some authors who use this template will want to
embed their pictures instead of linking them. In earlier versions of Word, we
would run out of memory if we did this. How does Word 2007 do a better job of
handling embedded graphics and is the there a limit as to how many pages and
how many per page before we should get concerned about file size getting too
large? In Word 2003, it seemed like it was around 50 pages with 1-2 pics per
page. Thanks for any advice you have to offer. -Goldi
