Is Workspace Creation Processor-Intensive?

I've found that if I publish multiple projects in rapid succession - all with
an initial workspace to get built - that I'll get the dreaded "CreateWssSite
failed" error. I seems to be able to create two workspaces at a time, then
need to wait about 3 minutes until the queue becomes idle.

Queue threads are set at a max of 4, and I can change it to be up to 20. But
the simple fact seems to be that workspace creation take a lot of time (a
couple minutes) for the server to be completely finished.

Is this an accurate assessment about workspace creation?

Hi Brian,

Yes - this is a known issue I have been having since day 1 of project server
2007. This causes a lot of problems when I am training a group of people
how to publish and create a workspace. We had to do one at a time. I
reported this issue to premier support in 2007, but I guess it was not high
