ISAM driver - import file type Excel - not showing up in dialog

Can not import EXCEL file into access 2002 - excel file
type not displayed in list. Installed jet4 8.0 and
office xp sp3 - still not fixed.

Look for the file Msexcl40.dll on your hard drive (it should be in your
System folder) and reregister it using regsvr32.exe

do you get a run-time error message of '3170'? What you might have to do is register & download, regsv32a.exe, that is available on Microsoft's download center (look @ support.microsoft.com webpage and type in run time error 3170. Go to the article page, 161173/ACC97: Microsoft Exchange ISAM Driver Requires Manual Registration. Here you will find a resolution that will tell you about this download
