Issue embedding an excel chart into Powerpoint

Whenever I try to embed an excel chart into powerpoint, the format of
the chart is not retained. Specifically, a large space between the
edge of the chart area and the y-axis appears and the chart legend
moves. I have noticed that this only occurs, when I realign the y-axis
title so it is horizontal and place it at the top of the chart. I am
using Office XP at home but have seen this same issue with Office 2000.


I also noticed that this does not happen when I copy as either a link
or a picture. However, neither option is practical since others need
to access the data behind the slide.

This is driving me nuts!!!! Any help would be appreciated.

The problem is that the plot area is resizing to make up for the change in
the position of the Y-axis title.

Are you changing the position of the chart title in Excel before you place
the chart into PPT, or are you doing it once the chart is in PPT, and then
the plot area is resizing?

Also, how are you embedding the chart into PPT? Are you pasting it directly
on the slide, or are you pasting it in a content placeholder or are you
doing something else or what?

Hm. This is odd.

What if you right-click the chart, choose Format Object, and change the size
(on the size tab) to 100% x 100%?
