Issue / Risk Data Analysis Views

We want to create a Data Analysis view to monitor issues and risks by project
category. I created the view using the MSP_Project_WSS cube knowing this
cube combines both issue and risk data. We have a custom field named Project
Category that I included as a dimension. But. if I select to view only one
of the lookup values the data totals go blank. It appears that other custom
fields we have such as Phase or State react the same: either all or nothing.
Does anyone know how to work around this problem?

Hi Moroni,

the reason why you cant see the value in the dimension is probably because
the custom field Category that you see in your dimension is not the same one
than in the risk and issue workspace. Project Server 2007 only tranfers the
default custom fields to the cube. Any additional custom field that you
included in your risk and issue workspace does not appear in the cube. That
may be the reason why you cant see any value within the dimension.
I hope this makes sense

Thanks Marc for the feedback.

I want to make sure I understand. You are saying that I cannot filter the
issues and risk data using a Project custom field and lookup table since the
issue and risk cubes pull directly from the workspace.

Thanks,

Almost :) what actually happens is that when you publish your project,
project server will pull risk and issue data off the workspace and will put
this data into the projetc server reporting database.

The problem is that if you have amended your workspace ( added new fields
into your risks and issues for example), these new fields will not come into
the reporting dababase and therefore you cannot report against these new
fields in your OLAP cubes. I know its not pretty :( but that is the way
Microsoft decided to implement the Risk and Issue fields into the OLAP cubes
I hope that makes sense

Marc, thanks for the knowledge.

The field we want to filter by is a Project Type custom fileld with a lookup
table named Project Category (department). This field comes over when we use
the MSP_Project_WSS cube, but we cannot set a any values in the lookup table.
If we do, the data goes blank. We made no changes to the workspace sites
or templates. Is it correct to say that no custom Project Type felds with
lookup tables can be used to filter issue and risk Data Analyis Views?

Thanks,

Hi Moroni,

You can filter by project custom fields, but you can only filter by project
and risk. This should be possible.
Include the project name into your view and then your project custom field.
This should allow you to filter.
I hope this helps

We're experiencing the same issue - as soon as you display any custom project
level fields from the msp_project_wss - cube - then no data displays.

Any ideas? The view works fine if you only display project names, - but as
soon as you display custom fields the view displays nothing.
