We've had some reports of PowrePoint 2007 crashing when you exit the
program. By "crash" I mean you receive a message "Microsoft Office
PowerPoint has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for
the inconvenience."

If you click on the "What data does this error report contain?" link you
see the following:
-------------------------
Error signature
AppName: powerpnt.exe AppVer: 12.0.4518.1014 AppStamp:45428035
ModName: mso.dll ModVer: 12.0.6017.5000 ModStamp:461db01f
fDebug: 0 Offset: 0036e70c
-------------------------

I have been able to reproduce this issue on a Windows XP SP2 machine with
PowerPoint 2007, Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007, and a HP
Photosmart C7200 printer as the default printer when you start PowerPoint
2007. If you have Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 installed,
PowerPoint will load an add-in for that program. If you disable that add-in
or change the default printer to something other than the HP Photosmart
C7200 the problem goes away.

You can see if that add-in is loading in PowerPoint 2007 by clicking on the
Office Button, choosing PowerPoint Options, click Add-ins, you should see
an Active add-in called "Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007". You
can click on the Go... button with COM Add-ins selected and uncheck
Business Contact Manager for Outlook, and click OK. Restart PowerPoint.

We'll keep investigating this issue but if anyone has any more information,
especially if you have seen this with another printer as the default,
please let me know the model and where you got the driver from.

We are getting this error with 2 HP printers. The K5400 and the D4260.
We installed and tested both the newest and previous revision right
from HP's website and it says the drivers are Windows Certified. We
don't have the Business Contact Manager installed and we have no Add-
ins running in PowerPoint and just installed the driver for these
printers, not the other software suite. We are running them on an XP
Pro SP2 system with Office 2007 Professional Plus. We get the crash
mainly with PowerPoint but also occasionally in Word as well. It's
only when it's these 2 printers are set as the default. If we have
other HP laser printers as the default PowerPoint will exit
successfully. Below is the message from Event Log. This one shows that
ppcore.dll is faulting but we have also gotten the mso.dll errors
previously. Thanks for any help you can provide.

On a fully patched Windows XP Pro SP2 with Office 2007 SP1 I don't get the
crash on exiting PowerPoint 2007 with K5400 as default printer (version
60.62.241.0) installed from HP website.

Also tried with D4200 series (version 61.71.246.0) installed from HP
website and no crash on exit.

I'm getting the version of the driver under Printers and Faxes,
right-clicking the printer, choosing Properties and going to the About tab.

My two suggestions are to try removing the printer from Printers and Faxes
and then going into Server Properties on the File menu and removing the
driver. Then re-install the driver. Also make sure to have all Windows
Updates and Office Updates applied. Office 2007 SP1 came out a few weeks
ago, you can download the self-extracting executable for SP1 from the
Microsoft Download Center (http://download.microsoft.com).

Same exact error as you have written about, HP Deskjet D4260. There is no small business contact manager add-in loaded, so that is not the cause.
Thanks, looking forward to the resolution to this, please contact (e-mail address removed) when you find it.
