One of my users has an issue when she uses the endnote feature in Word 2002.
She sets up a document using alpha-numeric numbers and all looks fine when
she emails it out. When one recipient opens up the document, the endnotes
convert to roman numerals. There is only one recipient that is having this
issue. Other people she sends this document to have no conversion issues.
Could there be something wrong with that one recipient's normal.dot? If so,
can he just rename it, close Word and open it up to create a new one? If not,
is there any way to fix this for the recipient? Or is this issue caused by
the sender's version of Word?
One thing I noticed that was strange in the sender's document is that when a
reference is used more than once, she isn't using the cross-reference tool.
She is just manual inserting numbers. When I looked at her document and
inserted a cross-reference, the numbering system appeared in roman numerals
even though the endnotes were alpha numeric. I don't know if that is a clue
but I thought I would mention it just in case. I know that Endnote's default
number format is roman numerals but why would it refer back if the sender has
changed it and why would it only effect one recipient?
I would appreciate any useful thoughts on this to help with troubleshooting.
