Issue with printing excel spreadsheet embedded in word doc

Hello All

any help on this one would be appreciated

the FD is preparing a document for a board meeting and has embedded part
of an excel worksheet showing financial figures into a word document

positive figures are shown in black
negative figures are shown in brackets and coloured red

looking at the document in print layout view the negative figures are
formatted correctly

looking at print preview the negative figures are formatted correctly

when printing to either a HP LJ 4650n or HP LJ 5550n colour laser
printer the red is not printed the text appears black

when I open the source excel spreadsheet the data that has been embedded
prints with correct colourings

printer driver does not have any settings to print text colour as black
- tested by adding some text to the document, colouring it red, re print
document, the red coloured text prints red

any ideas?
