Access 2002 or 2003, Windows XP SP2, and Windows Server 2003, split
database.
Let's start from step 1, the unsecured scenario. Front end and back end on
the server, everything working perfectly. Then I added security to the
front end (back end will be later) and tested with the front, back, and mdw
files all on local workstation. Everything working perfectly. Last step,
put the data and security file on the network in the same original folder
that was working before security so everyone can use it and set up
shortcuts. Database is unusable with error (next three lines):
Microsoft Access cannot open this file.
This file is located outside your intranet or on an untrusted site.
Microsoft Access will not open the file due to potential security problems.
To open the file, copy it to your machine or an accessible network location.
This error message cannot be correct. Without the mdw file, the front end
and data open fine. There must be some type of security interaction here
that Access is not diagnosing correctly. Does anyone know what it is?
Thanks!
Tony
