Issue with Templates - All tasks return to template creator...

S

spatton

We have several MS Project 2007 templates that I have created - all
saved at at New>On Complete>Enterprise Templates in MS Project. When
anyone else uses this template (saves and publishes), the task updates
still come to me, as template creator - even though the owner of the
project shows a different name.

Is there a way to setup or save a template so that when other Project
Managers use it, the task updates will go to them, and not the
template creator?

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

this is a known issue. When you save a Project Template you will also become
the so called "Status Manager", which should not happen. Every time this
template is used and saved by a new PM, this PM should become the Status
Manager. At this point in time this is not the case ( due to an Project
Server issue ).

What the PM will need to do is insert the Status Manager Column in Project
Professional and replace your name with his name on each task. this will
ensure that you dont get the updates, but the PM.

Also have you installed Service Pack 1 yet?. I will have to double check
this, but believe that this has been resolved in Service Pack 1. ( not 100%
sure )

I hope this explains why you receive the status update and how to rectify
the issue.
Please let me know if you have more questions or if something so not quite
clear.
Thanks
