Recently a client of mine got a replacement phone - BlackBerry Bold 9000 - to replace his old one that was having hardware issues. He syncs to a hosted Exchange account and messages are relayed via BlackBerry Enterprise Server, and it also syncs to his Entourage 2008 on his MacBook Pro. Before I could set up the new phone for him, he tried getting it set up on his own and used PocketMac to try and sync his files and applications (not knowing 3rd party apps aren't transferred that way). Soon after, I got to his office and used BlackBerry Desktop Manager to transfer files to the new phone, and everything seemed good to go. But later in the day he noticed that new emails coming into his Entourage showed a classification of "Unfiled" and formatting was black and bold text. Before, all new messages that arrived were blue and bold, and when the messages are read, they turn black and lose the bold formatting. So now we are trying to figure out how to get the unread message formatting back the way it was, and how to change the classification from "Unfiled" to "Unread".
Do you think this change in behavior was due to the PocketMac sync that took place on the new BlackBerry? And somehow those preferences carried over to Entourage?
To make things more complicated, at the same time the first issue happened, he started receiving iCal alerts for all Entourage calendar events, which had not happened before. For some reason he deleted the iCal application from OSX, and is still getting the alerts. As far as I understand, iCal can sync with Entourage's calendar, but he never used iCal for any purpose so I guess that's why he felt it was OK to delete it. At any rate, I couldn't find any information on the web about this particular issue, so I'm hoping someone here has experienced this before and knows how to resolve it.
If you need any other details please let me know. Thanks,
Steve
